The competition for the services of a top international star just became more narrow as WWE and NJPW attempt to sign a top prospect.
It’s no secret that WWE wants to expand its market share internationally, whether in Europe, Mexico, or Japan, by hosting premium live events in these countries, as they’ve booked several of these shows in 2024.
The star
As previously reported, there is massive WWE interest in Giulia, who has some sort of offer from WWE. The NJPW star is not allowed to sign with anyone, including WWE until her deal is up in March.
Many believed AEW would make an attempt to sign Giulia, who is currently the New Japan Strong Women’s Championship after defeating Willow Nightingale, but that’s not the case.
The latest
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that AEW is no longer in contention of signing her.
Meltzer wrote, “Nothing new on Giulia past that AEW has never made a serious play for her and she’s had no conversations with AEW and is not considering them. It’s WWE or staying in Japan.”
