Another AEW star may be done…at least for the immediate future.
Fightful reports that Buddy Matthews may be done AEW “for a while.” More details will be up soon on Fightful Select.
Matthews and Brody King lost to Sting and Darby Allin during AEW Rampage: Grand Slam this week. Matthews is one of the names who had been reached out to by WWE.
The Wrestling Observer’s Ryan Frederick responded to a post on the F4W Board about others who may have had feelers sent out to them. The user wrote, “I’d expect that one may well have been Buddy Matthews. The other ex WWE guys I guess it could be would be Keith Lee, Cole, O’Reilly or Andrade.”
Frederick responded, “yes, no, no, no, very possibly.” This confirmed that Matthews was among those who WWE reached out to. Andrade was put in the “very possibly” category by Frederick.
Fightful reported that others who WWE sent feelers to include FTR, Swerve Strickland, and Malakai Black. Black reportedly received a conditional release from AEW. If Murphy leaves for good then this puts the final nail in the coffin of the House of Black stable.
I've been told that Buddy Matthews may be done with AEW for a while.
