AEW’s Jake Hager Announces MMA Retirement

Jake Hager’s MMA career has come to an end.

Hager held a 3-0-1 record under the Bellator promotion, with his most recent bout taking place at Bellator 250 in October 2020, where he beat Brandon Calton via split decision.

Hager has been aligned with Chris Jericho since arriving in AEW. He started as part of the Inner Circle (Santana and Ortiz, and Sammy Guevara) before being in the Jericho Appreciation Society.

Last year, Hager had expressed interest in fighting Ryan Bader and Fedor Emelianeko, but those fights never happened.

While doing a virtual signing with K & S WrestleFest, Hager confirmed he is retired from the sport. The AEW star said he trained hard last year. However, in his words, he felt Bellator was ‘jerking him off,’ so now he’s focusing on wrestling.
