It seems like every year, there will be rumors that Alberto El Patron, also known as Alberto Del Rio, is returning to WWE.
El Patron has worked only a dozen matches in recent years as he had been facing four counts of second-degree sexual assault and one count of aggravated kidnapping dating back to May 2020 when he was arrested. However, the case against him was later dismissed.
WWE has previously denied that there have been any talks about bringing him back. In December 2021, Fightful reported being told by multiple promotions (WWE, MLW, and Impact Wrestling) that they have no interest in bringing in the former WWE Champion.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that despite Del Rio saying he was planning to make a return to WWE last year before Vince McMahon retired and later pushed his way back into the company, that wasn’t the case.
When asked about it, one WWE higher-up said, “No f**king chance.”
