It’s been nearly a week since CM Punk was officially let go by AEW, and the locker room has already shifted towards a more positive atmosphere.
After being sidelined following surgery and the brawl with The Elite last year at All Out, Punk returned to AEW TV in June as he had remained under contract with the promotion. Punk was released by AEW less than a week after an internal investigation into the altercation at All In with Jack Perry.
In the promotion, Punk had plenty of people who didn’t like him, and while that may get overshadowed in most reports, he also had plenty of supporters, including AEW Tag Team Champions FTR.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that locker room morale has improved in AEW.
Meltzer wrote, “Many others talked about the backstage atmosphere as if a dark cloud had been lifted over their heads and how much fun it was on the weekend shows.”
