Backstage news on Austin Theory’s absence from a recent WWE live event

WWE dealt with travel issues last week due to the harsh winter weather across the United States that also was the week after Christmas. Several WWE stars missed house shows last Monday because of this.

Austin Theory missed last Friday’s house show in Toronto, which led some fans to wonder whether he was injured. Thankfully, Theory isn’t injured.

Theory was advertised to defend the United States Title against Seth Rollins in the main event in a steel cage at the show, but the arena announced the day of the show that Theory wouldn’t make it. They announced Rollins would face Bobby Lashley, but Lashley didn’t appear either, so Finn Balor took his spot in the match with Rollins.

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that Theory is not injured and is expected to be on tonight’s Raw to take on Rollins with the United States Title on the line.

“Theory on Friday was not in Toronto, but I was told it’s not an injury or anything like that. He was supposed to be in the main event with Seth. I don’t know if it was an issue going across the border. The building put it out, which is really weird because WWE usually puts it out….I was told that Theory is going to be, at least a few hours ago, would be wrestling Seth Rollins, and there’s no problem or no injury or anything like that. I don’t know what it was.”
