Backstage News On Length Of Drew McIntyre’s New WWE Contract

Drew McIntyre recently signed a multi-year deal for big money with WWE. His contract status has been talked about for months, with the belief that a deal would be made in the end, and that was the case.

McIntyre will be taking time off due to him dealing with a hyperextended elbow in his WrestleMania match. It’s possible that WWE just keeps him on TV and does not work on house shows due to the lack of star power on Raw right now.

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez and Dave Meltzer discussed McIntyre’s deal.

Alvarez: “We have Drew McIntyre having re-signed with WWE. Three-year deal.”

Meltzer: “Three-year deal.”

Alvarez: “Pretty impressive he got a three-year deal. I think they wanted to give five right?”

Meltzer: “That’s how I viewed it. I viewed three years as very smart on his part because, I mean, the thing is, you know, if there are two companies around in three years, which more likely than not there will be, you can go in there and….I don’t know the number.”

Meltzer noted that while he doesn’t know McIntyre’s money, he’s among the top earners alongside Seth Rollins, Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, and Roman Reigns, with the belief that they’re making $3-4 million per year. McIntyre’s money figure has not been confirmed.
