Ric Flair made his AEW debut on Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite and fans have been wondering how long the WWE Hall of Famer will be sticking around the promotion.
The debut saw Flair be revealed as Tony Khan’s gift to Sting ahead of his retirement at next year’s Revolution PPV. Flair said he couldn’t pass on this opportunity and wanted to be along for the ride with Sting until his retirement at Revolution.
This indicates he will be making more AEW appearances. The segment continued when Christian Cage with Nick Wayne and Luchasaurus came out to book a trios match, with the heels taking on Sting, Allin, and a mystery partner at Full Gear.
In 2021, after Flair departed from WWE, there was speculation that All Elite Wrestling could bring him as he’s friends with President Tony Khan and his son-in-law, Andrade, is working for the promotion. That belief was dropped after allegations were made on Dark Side of the Ring against the WWE Hall of Famer and he received backlash as a result.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that Khan wanted to bring in Flair and he will be with AEW through at least March.
Meltzer wrote, “Khan wanted him to be part of the Sting [retirement] storyline and he’s supposed to be on the show as part of this through March. I believe part of this is also that AEW will help promote his “Whoooo” energy drink, or at least that is what is being talked about”
