For years, WWE has tried to make The Rock vs. Roman Reigns happen, but it has yet to happen.
The Rock gave insight into the situation in September while making an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show. He noted that heading into WrestleMania 39, the match was locked in and they were doing it. He confirmed he made a handshake deal to do it after a meeting with WWE in LA.
However, things fell apart because they wanted to do something that would change the business and couldn’t come up with something that would do exactly that so they stopped the talks for the moment.
He said he’s open to a match with Reigns at WrestleMania 40 next year in Philadelphia. Check out a full recap here.
Justin Barrasso of SI.com reported today that “the decision about Wrestlemania will not be The Rock’s to make, nor is the main event even a topic of substance. There are currently no plans for this to happen.”
The report pointed out that even if WWE offered him the match, it’s unclear whether Rock would accept because of his busy schedule with the XFL, movie career, and other business ventures.
