WWE has confirmed several matches for its next PLE, SummerSlam, which is just over a week away when it takes place at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.
Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns vs. Jey Uso in a Tribal Combat Match, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins vs. Finn Balor, and Brock Lesnar vs. Cody Rhodes are the top bouts set for the show.
Ronda Rousey vs. Shayna Baszler, WWE Women’s Champion Asuka vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Bianca Belair, WWE Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER vs. Drew McIntyre, and Logan Paul vs. Ricochet make up the rest of the show.
WWE has played into the MMA backgrounds of the two former UFC stars, and that is the idea behind their match type heading into their SummerSlam contest. The company has had Rousey and Baszler bill their match as a “fight.”
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that he was “told the idea is not a street fight but more of an MMA rules type of match, which makes sense with both having extensive backgrounds.”
