Backstage News on WWE’s Internal Focus on Which Main Roster Talent They Use

This year’s WWE Draft changed up the talent rosters across the main roster with Raw and SmackDown as well as NXT as some wrestlers moved brands while others stayed on the brand they’ve been on, and then you have the developmental talent that was called up to the main roster with a chance to become a much bigger star.

Fans may have noticed that in recent months the company has been attempting to make an effort to showcase younger talent on television, such as Dominik Mysterio, who had a breakout moment when he turned heel and became his own man as a heel when feuding with his father, Rey Mysterio.

Rhea Ripley has also been positioned near the top of the card after dethroning Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Title at WrestleMania 39.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that WWE’s focus is using younger talent.

Meltzer wrote, “There is a big internal focus right now to get younger aged talent on Raw and Smackdown right now.”

WWE’s young talent will be spotlighted this weekend with Saturday’s Night of Champions premium live event in Saudi Arabia.
