Vince McMahon didn’t wait long to get more involved in running things following the news that Endeavor had acquired WWE and would merge into a new company with the UFC. McMahon will stay on as the executive chairman.
As previously reported, McMahon made changes to Monday’s Raw shortly before the show went live and throughout the show. While Triple H will be running creative, McMahon will likely have final say on creative.
Pwinsider has a report about the backstage reaction to McMahon running things.
“Among some talents we spoke with, there was a huge negative shift in morale as they realized that things were going to go back to “exactly where they were” before Paul Levesque was placed in control as Chief Content Officer. One source said the “place felt nuked” but others didn’t go that far,” the report stated.
The feeling was that moving forward, McMahon would likely be overseeing everything again, just like he had done before resigning last summer.
A big part of the feeling is that Triple H is genuinely liked and trusted by the talent as many of them worked with him in NXT, where they found their characters they portray today. The feeling of security that they had before from SummerSlam through WrestleMania is no longer a given. Many feel it will be a far departure from how some felt before Monday.
There was some talent who shrugged it off because they suspected “all roads” would lead to McMahon being back in a creative role eventually.
One person joked that the company was always the world of McMahon, and now it’s simply back in the palm of his hand after he gave it up last summer.
