After last night’s WWE SmackDown, it is pretty much confirmed that Sami Zayn will be going to Saudi Arabia for the WWE Night of Champions event. Sami and Kevin Owens will defend the WWE World Tag Team Titles against Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa at the PLE.
There has been speculation online from fans that the reason why Zayn did not go to previous events in the region is because of political reasons and now that Saudi Arabia and Syria are working to repair their working relations, Zayn has decided to go. That is not entirely accurate, per Twitter insider @BoozerRasslin.
Boozer tweeted on his private account that Zayn’s absence from previous Saudi shows was never about “political status” and it was more about the campaigns he was part of. Boozer added that this was “resolved years ago.” Boozer also noted that it was Zayn’s choice not to go but that’s changed.
The campaign that Boozer referenced would be Sami For Syria. The fundraiser helps raise money to provide life-saving medical care to conflict-affected areas in Syria. For more information on the campaign, check out Sami’s tweet below.
