Since Nick Khan was brought into the company a few years ago and is now serving as the CEO of WWE, he pushed for them to hold premium live events in special markets and run more stadium shows.
This trend picked up coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic with major events such as WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and Royal Rumble take place at stadiums. Last year, they did Clash at the Castle in the UK at a stadium and will be taking this year’s SummerSlam event at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan in August.
They also have held PLEs in special markets such as Puerto Rico this month with Backlash and Money in the Bank in London this July.
While speaking to Mark Andrews on My Love Letter to Wrestling, Becky Lynch noted that she hopes to bring a stadium show to Ireland and pushed WWE to do a stadium show. While
“We were just talking about that. Yes, I gave the venue and all, they already asked, we can have one. I don’t know that we have the population to sustain it, but I think when you have the UK and Europe so close, absolutely,” Lynch stated.
