In an exclusive for WrestlingNews.co, Steve Fall spoke with WWE SmackDown star Bianca Belair ahead of her title match at SummerSlam in Detroit. Belair and Charlotte Flair will challenge Asuka for the WWE Women’s Championship at the PLE.
Fall noted how bizarre it feels not to see Belair holding a championship because she was champion for so long. Belair said the following:
“I know. Yeah, it was, what? 419 days with that title. So it feels very weird not having it. I still go to the airport and think I’m forgetting something at home. It just became a part of me. It became one of my, you know, best accessories. But you know, now, it’s just me and my hair. I’m looking to walk out of SummerSlam back with that title and you know, Asuka has a brand new shiny one. So I like that one, I want it.”
On Becky Lynch vs. Trish Stratus being left off the SummerSlam card:
“Well, I think everybody wants to be on a Premium Live Event. That’s what we all want. And that’s really what it’s just all about, you know and you know, of course, you’re always going to want to be on the card so but you know at the end of the day you know it’s Asuka, Charlotte and me in a Triple Threat and you have Shayna, you have Ronda so we’re super excited about those matches on the card. But you know, that’s just the competitor in us. You know, we want to be in the card, we want to go to the show and show up and show out and tear the house down have the best match on the card. You’re going to feel a certain way if you’re a competitor. And that’s just what it is at the end of the day…Competition makes you better. We’re all fighting for a spot at the end today.”
Belair also talked about the possibility of IYO SKY cashing in after the match, dealing with Damage CTRL for the past year, the crowd reaction during her match with IYO SKY at Backlash in Puerto Rico, and how she felt about the match.
