In an exclusive for WrestlingNews.co, Steve Fall spoke with former WCW/WWE star Bill Demott (aka Hugh Morrus).
These days, DeMott is a “Public Speaker, Traffic Safety Advocate, Victims Advocate, TV Personality, and Founder of The Keri Anne DeMott Foundation.” The charity was started after his daughter Keri Anne was killed by a drunk driver in 2015. Bill DeMott on working with Steve McMichael in WCW and reaching out to him recently as he battles ALS:
“I got to know Mongo really quickly. He came in as one of the boys. He came in as a fan. He came in respectful. It helped that everybody knew who he was. He never carried his reputation on his shoulders. He never treated anybody differently. He wasn’t a Super Bowl Champion or an All-Pro. He was Mongo. I got to travel with him and share life experience stories with him which was really cool.”
“What a good guy. I sent him a message not long ago. He’s in our prayers. To know the man and then see the state that he’s in now and everything that’s going on, all the prayers and strength to him and I really do appreciate the time we had together.”
