In an exclusive for WrestlingNews.co, Steve Fall spoke with former WCW/WWE star Bill Demott (aka Hugh Morrus).
These days, DeMott is a “Public Speaker, Traffic Safety Advocate, Victims Advocate, TV Personality, and Founder of The Keri Anne DeMott Foundation.” The charity was started after his daughter Keri Anne was killed by a drunk driver in 2015. DeMott commented on the possibility that CM Punk will return to AEW at their Wembley Stadium show (note, it has been reported in multiple places that Punk will return in June on the debut episode of AEW Collision):
“I think a successful night for them would be 45 (45,000 tickets) or better. The problem with that is if you bring somebody in for that day just to sell one venue, and there’s talk of Punk coming back, is that where he’s going to debut? That’s the conversation, right? So that’s going to sell tickets now.”
DeMott continued, “There’s talk of Goldberg because now he’s a free agent. There’s Drew McIntyre. There’s all these people that are now not selling these things and not re-signing and now we’re building to Wembley, but what do you do after Wembley? So I think successfully, for them, I hope they get at least 45,000. I think anything after that, they should be going, ‘Holy crap. Like, we did it.’ I think they’re going to bring that team in there, that group of talent, and I think they’re going to do well.”
Note: Drew McIntyre may not be free to sign elsewhere until the end of the year. Click below for the entire interview where DeMott talks about the allegations against him in WWE, Steve McMichael, the Dungeon of Doom, Endeavor buying WWE, and a lot more.
