Bill DeMott on shooting Dungeon of Doom vignettes in a warehouse, starting Goldberg’s WCW streak

In an exclusive for WrestlingNews.co, Steve Fall spoke with former WCW/WWE star Bill Demott (aka Hugh Morrus).

These days, DeMott is a “Public Speaker, Traffic Safety Advocate, Victims Advocate, TV Personality, and Founder of The Keri Anne DeMott Foundation.” The charity was started after his daughter Keri Anne was killed by a drunk driver in 2015. In the clip below, he talks about joining The Dungeon of Doom in WCW:

“We were brought into a big warehouse in Tampa, so we would fly into Tampa every week or every other week and shoot a bunch of the vignettes there. It was a big warehouse. We were there all day long. I think a lot of us should have had black lungs from all the smoke. You know, you’re coming in from the entrances and all that stuff, but it was a lot of fun. For me coming in, I was surrounded by some of the biggest men in the industry. I’m not just talking about name-wise, I’m just talking about size-wise where I believe I might have been the smallest person in the Dungeon of Doom.”

On starting the Goldberg streak in WCW:

“I didn’t know Bill previously to this. I’ve seen him at a couple of shows, but you saw a lot of people at shows and you don’t think anything of it. I think it was, let’s see what he can do on TV. Let’s put this together. Let’s see what we got here, and, lightning in a bottle. I don’t think anybody, I can’t speak for any of them. A lot of people would take credit and go, ‘Sure, I’ve known since day one’, but all the people that are honest about it have said, ‘We had no idea.’ Then they just ran with it. To me, I don’t want to say it was just another night, but it was just another night. It was just another match doing your job. Then to see what happened was really cool.”
