Bryan Danielson considered leaving WWE for ROH in 2018

Bryan Danielson has found success in all of the major companies that he has worked for throughout his wrestling career – WWE, AEW, and ROH.

He is a former ROH World Champion and a member of the inaugural ROH Hall of Fame class. Danielson nearly went back to the promotion in 2018 when his WWE contract was coming up. While speaking with Kenny McIntosh of Inside The Ropes, Danielson revealed this.

“It was really interesting, my contract with WWE was up in 2018, and I was considering going to Ring of Honor. I was talking to The Young Bucks, and I was talking to Cody [Rhodes] just to see, and their contracts were all up with Ring of Honor. I was like, ‘Well, what are you guys going to do?’”

Danielson brought up how his lawyer, who doesn’t know anything about pro wrestling, told him that he didn’t think he should go to ROH if The Young Bucks weren’t staying as they drove popularity to the promotion through their Being The Elite YouTube show. The lawyer also questioned what ROH would be like if Cody Rhodes left.

Danielson made a wise choice as The Young Bucks and Cody Rhodes would help launch AEW in 2019 with Tony Khan.

Danielson re-signed with WWE in 2018 but left the company in 2021 and joined AEW. Danielson challenged for the ROH World Title on AEW programming but was unsuccessful. Chris Jericho is the reigning ROH World Champion.
