Chris Jericho comments on CM Punk’s WWE in-ring return

Although there is a lot of tribalism in wrestling among certain fans, having more options is always a good thing for wrestlers. Despite CM Punk leaving AEW on not-great terms, Chris Jericho seemingly hopes the best for Punk in his return run with WWE.

History

Punk’s AEW tenure ended following his physical altercation with Jack Perry at AEW All In. Jericho previously confirmed that he had a conversation with Punk after the incident.

It was reported that Jericho called Punk “a cancer to the locker room and a detriment to the company” after the infamous All Out brawl with The Elite. He also made headlines on Christmas for his interaction with Punk’s lawyer about the NDA tied to the backstage incident.

However, Jericho has publicly praised and wished he had one more match with Punk in AEW. Speaking with WFAA, Jericho said things were business as usual without Punk in AEW.

The return

WWE held a house show at Madison Square Garden in New York City, where Punk made his WWE in-ring return by beating Dominik Mysterio before they have a rematch at The Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, on Saturday, December 30. Punk also cut a promo about how his story is just starting at WrestleMania 40.

As seen below, Jericho commented on a post from WWE on Instagram about Punk’s return.
