Now that the third-party investigation is over regarding the AEW All Out brawl between Ace Steel, CM Punk, and The Elite, more details are coming out.
Fightful Select reports that Chris Jericho was praised by talent for his resolve and demeanor while stepping up during the scrum right after the incident took place.
It was said by several sources that “Jericho approached CM Punk, unhappy about the Brawl Out fight as well as the nature of the scrum that had just taken place. Jericho told CM Punk that he was a cancer to the locker room, and a detriment to the company.”
Although sources didn’t recount Punk’s reply verbatim, it was said that he effectively told Jericho it wasn’t his business and needed to leave.
Jericho also stepped up to appear at the scrum and helped lead a talent meeting in the days that followed. Jericho was recently signed to a significant extension that saw his responsibilities expanded.
As previously reported, AEW is in talks with Punk about buying out his contract, and the only hang-up in making this happen is the non-compete period of the deal.
