Chris Jericho has a new project on the way.
According to Variety, “Dark Match,” a 1980s-set wrestling action-horror, will be coming out later this year, with its festival premiere to be announced imminently. Blue Finch Films, a U.K.-based sales and distribution company, has picked up the worldwide rights, excluding Canada, and will begin sales at the upcoming Cannes Film Market.
Jericho is the movie’s leading star, written and directed by Lowell Dean. It’s produced by Dept. 9 Studios’ John K. MacDonald, Don Depoe, Michael Feehan, Michael Peterson, and Rhonda Baker.
The article notes, “In the film, a small-time wrestling company accepts a well-paying gig in a backwoods town only to learn that the community is run by a mysterious cult leader with devious plans for their match. When the lights go down, Miss Behave and her friends are pitted against each other in a real fight for their lives. The cast also includes Steven Ogg (“The Walking Dead”) and Ayisha Issa (“Transplant”).”
Jericho will defend the FTW Title against Katsuyori Shibata on next week’s AEW Dynamite.
