William Regal is gone from AEW as he is expected to make his return to WWE.
As previously reported, Regal is finalizing a WWE deal, and the expectation is that he will officially start with the company after the New Year. Regal is expected to be working in a backstage role.
The belief is that Regal had an out clause or signed a short-term deal with AEW. Last week, Regal was written off storylines on Dynamite when he was stretchered out after being attacked by MJF.
While speaking to Joey Hayden of Dallas Morning News, Claudio Castagnoli, who is part of the Blackpool Combat Club with Regal, was asked about the current status of Regal.
“I mean, I guess we have to … we have to wait and see. You know, we’re still talking, I think we have to have a little group meeting to figure out what’s next, or if there’s a next. So yeah, I’ll leave it at that.”
Claudio would continue by talking about how much Regal means to him and the valuable time he spent with Regal in AEW.
