The CM Punk references have continued in WWE, but this time, it wasn’t on television. Instead, Grayson Waller went back to Punk’s most popular promo with a new social media post.
It’s been reported that the references to Punk on WWE television are not intended to hint at his widely speculated WWE return at Survivor Series in Chicago later this month, as WWE officials reportedly don’t want to bring him back at the moment.
In 2011, Punk did his pipe bomb promo during an edition of Monday Night Raw in Las Vegas. During his promo, punk talked about various topics, including Vince McMahon, Paul Heyman, and John Cena in addition to his issues with the company at the time. Punk would later go on to beat Cena for the WWE Title at the Money In The Bank PPV.
As seen below, Waller used a line from the promo in the caption of this Instagram post, and Punk responded in the comments:
