CM Punk ready to move on to his next project after AEW

Following the AEW All Out media scrum incident and backstage fight, CM Punk, Ace Steel, Kenny Omega, and The Young Bucks were all suspended.

Since then, Steel has been fired while The Elite has returned to AEW television, and Punk has been on the sidelines while talking with the promotion about them buying out the remaining time on his contract.

As previously reported, Punk is the one pushing for the contract buyout, and the only hang-up has been the non-compete period of the buyout clause.

Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Punk remains under contract with AEW and is still being paid as of this past weekend.

The report added, “those close to him say the hold up on his being released is all on the AEW side as he’s ready and willing to move to his next project.”

Details are not given on what the hold-up may be. Punk recently made his first TV appearance since All Out during the MMA Cage Fury Fighting Championship.
