Following tonight’s AEW Collision show, CM Punk, and FTR addressed the fans.
Punk took aim at Hangman Adam Page. He said that he figured out that the call him Hangman because nobody buys the Hangman action figures in the toy aisle and he’s a “peg warmer.” Punk said that Hangman is “unlike me, who moves merchandise and pops ratings and sells toys.”
For those of you unaware of the history, the issues with Punk and The Elite started around the first quarter of last year when Hangman basically said that he wanted to rid Punk of AEW because he’s a cancer in the locker room. The unscripted line led to tension fo their match at Double Or Nothing with Punk believing that Hangman may have been stiff with him on a clothesline.
Hangman’s comments stemmed from the belief that Punk was the reason why Colt Cabana was no longer backstage at shows and months later things boiled over with Punk saying something off script about Hangman and that led to the fight backstage that involved The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega after All Out. Listen to what Punk said tonight after Collision. Whether this is the start of an angle with both parties working things out privately, is still unknown but it seems to be the case.
