It looks like WWE has planted the seeds for Cody Rhodes’ next feud and tested the reaction to what fans would think of the top star feuding with one Raw star.
Since returning at the Royal Rumble in January, Rhodes has continued to be pushed as a top star by feuding with Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title, but coming up short in a match at WrestleMania 39. He later entered a long program with Brock Lesnar that lasted months, with their blowoff match coming at SummerSlam.
WWE held a live event on Saturday night from Palm Desert, CA, where Rhodes did an MVP Lounge segment with MVP and Omos.
This led to Rhodes defeating NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio in a Non-Title Street Fight. During the match, there was outside interference from Omos & MVP.
Rhodes will kick off Monday’s Raw. It will be interesting to see if this is just a live event angle or if WWE will start the feud in this upcoming segment.
