Chris Jericho put his ROH World Championship on the line against a mystery opponent during AEW Dynamite.
Before his match, Jericho said he issued the open challenge after losing to Claudio Castagnoli last week in a tag team match. The mystery opponent was revealed to be Colt Cabana, a name that will have people talking because of the timing of his return. There was a loud “welcome back” chant for Cabana at the start of the match. Cabana looked good in the match but he lost after Jericho hit him with the code breaker. After the match, Jericho was about to take out Ian Riccaboni but Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta and Bryan Danielson ran out to make the save. Security ran in at the end to break things up.
Jericho has been running through former ROH World Champions in a storyline that has Jericho declaring that he doesn’t care about the Honor because he is a sports entertainer and not an old fashioned pro wrestler.
