Contract Of Top WWE Star Believed To Be Up In 5-6 Weeks

There has been a lot of speculation about Drew McIntyre’s future in wrestling, with it being reported months ago that his deal was up shortly after WrestleMania XL. However, an exact timeframe wasn’t known.

Things didn’t go exactly how McIntyre thought they would at WWE WrestleMania 40 as he won a World Title for a third time in WWE as McIntyre challenged Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship after he became the #1 contender for the title after winning the Men’s Elimination Chamber Match at the PLE-themed event in Australia several weeks before.

Although McIntyre went over with two Claymore kicks and McIntyre with his wife at ringside before getting into the face of CM Punk, who was on commentary for the match, things went south once Punk attacked him. Damian Priest came out to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase and won the title.

Pwinsider reports that a deal has yet to be reached, with the two sides having been in talks for the last several weeks. The hold-up is with the terms of a new deal.

Per the report, a source told them that McIntyre’s current deal expires in the “5-6 week” range. Should McIntyre not reach a new deal, he could walk as soon as of late May or early June.
