Daniel Garcia: I Love Latin Music, I Listen to It Too Much

On the latest episode of “The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy,” Matt Hardy and Jon Alba welcomed Daniel Garcia as their guest and they talked with him about his rise in AEW. Scroll down to listen/watch the podcast.

Matt Hardy was asked his thoughts on Triple H taking over WWE Creative:

“I think at the end of the day, it’s going to be a positive and it’s a win for WWE. Vince, you cannot deny his contributions to sports entertainment, professional wrestling, to WWE. He is the greatest promoter of all time. I mean, that’s definitely, it’s going to go on his tombstone as of right now. It’s just time to change, you know, and it was time to move on. It was time to have someone a little younger, a little more forward thinking, someone who has more of their finger on the pulse of pop culture and today’s wrestling fans, and I think Paul Levesque was the guy to go with. So yeah, I think it’s gonna be a positive thing for WWE.”

Daniel Garcia on how he incorporated his dance move into his matches:

“We would always do our little little dance moves, like little Latin dance moves. I love Latin music. Isaiah and Cheesecake can’t stand it. I listen to it too much. I would just do it when we go out. I think we were in El Paso for the first time in this big Latin community. I had a match with Ricky Starks and I was like, ‘You know what? I’m gonna get this crowd into right now’, so I started busting out like a little dance. The crowd started coming up for it. I’m like, ‘Okay, like, that was cool. Maybe it’s something I’ll throw in the heat every once in a while. Maybe it’s something I’ll throw in. It’s like a little taunt. Then you know, by the time The Forbidden Door this year, Toronto, it took on a life of its own.”

On the plan for Garcia to be part of the Blackpool Combat Club:

“I’m not big on regrets. I don’t like to look backwards and think about what could have been or what was, but you know, at the moment, I was very, very, very, very sad about the situation. You know, Jericho has told the story so many times that, you know, I was originally supposed to be put with Bryan in the original Blackpool Combat Club right when it first was initiated. Jericho needed me for his group so I got taken out of that and put with Jericho. When he told me the news that I was going to be in JAS, I was just like, because in my mind, I’m like, damn, I know I was supposed to be with Bryan in a couple of weeks. Like, this is sad, you know? So then once I started like, okay, like this Bryan thing could be happening in the bigger way where I already got over a little bit and now it could be like a big payoff of a big storyline that I’m gonna be with Bryan. I’m like, this is really cool. But you know, I don’t know if I was ready at that point to be put with Bryan to be a babyface.”
