Bryan Danielson is going forward with his dream of competing in Japan on a big stage as he has issued a match challenge for a showdown at New Japan Pro Wrestling’s biggest event of the year.
Danielson is on the sidelines because he suffered a broken orbital bone with the initial belief and storyline that it happened while he was working a tag team match with Claudio Castagnoli against Orange Cassidy and Kazuchika Okada on last week’s Dynamite. That’s not the case. He suffered it when wrestling Andrade on Collision.
Danielson reportedly told several that he happened on the opening collar and elbow tie-up when Danielson caught an errant forearm or elbow. Danielson has undergone surgery for the broken orbital bone and is expected to be out of action for the rest of the year.
Danielson was previously injured with a broken arm while wrestling Okada at the AEW/NJPW Forbidden Door PPV event in June.
On Saturday, Danielson challenged Okada via a pre-taped video that aired during today’s NJPW Power Struggle show to a match at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18 on January 4th, 2024. Danielson beat Okada in their first match this past Summer.
