Dominik Mysterio has won his first-ever singles title in his wrestling career.
Mysterio beat Wes Lee on WWE NXT to win the championship in the main event of tonight’s WWE NXT broadcast but it wasn’t a clean victory. Mysterio won after Finn Balor caused a distraction with the referee and that allowed Damian Priest to get involved. Lee avoided Priest’s attempt to take him out but Rhea Ripley nailed him with the Women’s World Championship. That was the opening needed for Dominik to get the pin and the title.
Wes Lee was scheduled to defend the title against Mustafa Ali at the Great American Bash show on June 30th. Mysterio’s title win seemingly gets him in that match either as a one-on-one title match or a Triple Threat.
Mysterio has become one of the most hated heels in the company and every week he tries to give a promo on the mic, he gets drowned out by the fans, as seen in the video below. He’s been praised by his peers backstage for the work he’s put in to improve his in-ring and mic work.
