While over in India for last week’s WWE Superstar Spectacle, Drew McIntyre spoke with Riju Dasgupta of Sportskeeda Wrestling, where he was asked about CM Punk returning to WWE.
Punk was released by AEW earlier this month after a physical altercation with Jack Perry at AEW All In. There’s been no word yet on whether WWE is interested in having him back, but he was interested in returning last December with the idea of working the Royal Rumble the following month before working WrestleMania 39. Here are the highlights:
CM Punk’s potential WWE return:
“I don’t make those decisions. I watch what I say in interviews. But he’s [CM Punk] certainly controversial, and he gets people talking. I’ll leave it at that.”
Possibly creating a UK faction:
“I don’t know. I’ve always felt like more of a lone wolf, and I have noticed that a lot of people have been forming factions and using it to their advantage. And you mentioned the bloodline. There’s a reason that I wasn’t given Jey Uso a big hug as soon as he showed up on Monday Night Raw because he was kicking my head in for about a year, six months straight and making sure I wasn’t becoming undisputed champion. I just can’t imagine myself in a group right now if the right people or the right time, the right place, the right cause became apparent that I really need to form some kind of supergroup for the greater good, then I would. But right now I just can’t imagine it. I do have Riddle nipping at my heels to be a tag team every week, so yeah, he’s like an annoying dog, but I do like him.”
