This year’s AEW All Out had an interesting building as CM Punk lost to Jon Moxley in a matter of minutes in an Undisputed AEW World Title match on Dynamite over a week before the event happened. AEW booked a rematch for the pay-per-view event one week later.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that the early estimated pay-per-view buys for All Out will fall between 135,000 and 142,000.
It should be noted that this is based on US cable/satellite numbers. Meltzer wrote that All Out will be “well below both Revolution and Double or Nothing.”
Last year’s All Out did nearly 205,000 buys as it featured CM Punk’s first match back since 2014 in WWE.
Punk beat Moxley to win back the AEW World Heavyweight Title in the main event of All Out. Punk suffered a torn left triceps in the match. However, the event was overshadowed due to the brawl after the event during the media scrum. Punk ripped Colt Cabana, Hangman Page, and the AEW EVPs.
Once Punk got off stage, there was a brawl involving Punk, Ace Steel, Kenny Omega, and the Young Bucks. AEW has since stripped Punk of the World Title and Omega & The Young Bucks of the Trios Titles. The three EVPs have been suspended as well.
