AEW presented its Dynasty event from the Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, Missouri, and was a success on pay-per-view.
The show was headlined by Swerve Strickland, who won the AEW World Championship from Samoa Joe. The show also featured the return of Jack Perry as he made his return from hiatus to help The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson & Nicholas Jackson) win the AEW Tag Team Titles in a ladder match against FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) and Bryan Danielson against Will Ospreay in a classic.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that the show was done on pay-per-view from the two previous shows.
Meltzer wrote, “Right now, things don’t look good on that front” due to it being down 28.8 percent in television buys from the same number of days as the Worlds End show while it’s down from 41.1 percent from Revolution had Sting’s retirement.
Meltzer noted, “Using those final numbers, we’d have a range of 100,000 to 108,000. Streaming numbers were not down as much as television, as it was a 30 percent drop in streaming from Revolution.” Including buys from other streaming platforms, such as YouTube, it would lead to an estimated 122,000 buys.
