The negative fan reactions are not dying down anytime soon as the fans made it clear tonight that they want Cody Rhodes.
Seth Rollins went out to the ring to kick off the show. He called out Cody Rhodes to find out if he would accept his WrestleMania challenge. The fans booed when Rollins mentioned The Rock’s name during his promo. On commentary, Michael Cole and Pat McAfee referenced the #WeWantCody trend on social media after The Rock replaced Cody in the match against Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
Cody went out to the ring and a loud “Rocky Sucks” chant broke out when he got in the ring. The announcers acknowledged it and Michael Cole asked if this was 1996 again, a reference to the “Rocky Sucks” chants that fans would chant when Rocky Maivia was rejected as a white meat babyface. It’s clear that WWE is running with it and it looks like this will be turned into a storyline. Below is the clip of the fans chanting “Rocky Sucks” during the opening segment.
