Although WWE has greatly reduced who they sign to developmental deals for the majority of 2023 because of the impending acquisition of The Endeavor Group that is expected to be completed soon with the official merger of WWE and UFC into a new group, the promotion has made its latest signing official.
Pwinsider reports Brian Pillman Jr. officially started with WWE NXT this week after taking part in a tryout last month in Orlando, FL.
His AEW departure happened when his contract with the promotion expired, and his profile was removed from the AEW roster on the company website. This was after he spent three years with the promotion, mostly paired with Griff Garrison, where they worked on Dark and Dark: Elevation.
Pillman wrapped up his independent appearances earlier this month with a loss to then-NWA Junior Heavyweight Champion Kerry Morton in Charlotte, NC at the Gathering IV event.
Per the report, there is currently “no rush” to debut Pillman Jr on television. The “initial plan is to get Pillman into the PC system and allow him to get his feet under him.”
