Former Champion Was Backstage at WWE Raw, Expected to Return ‘Shortly’

It seems to be just a matter of time before WWE gets an extra shot of star power on Monday Night Raw. Coming out of the Draft, the rosters for Raw and SmackDown underwent major changes. One name that didn’t change brands is a star expected to make his return to television in the near future.

Former NXT champion Tommaso Ciampa has been on the sidelines since he underwent hip surgery in October. His last match happened at the September 17th WWE live event when he faced Bobby Lashley.

Before the surgery, he had been aligned with The Miz, helping him try to escape the wrath of Dexter Lumis on Monday Night Raw before disappearing from television.

Johnny Gargano has teased another member of his family popping up, leading to speculation that the two stars will reunite and Ciampa will be a member of The Way alongside Indi Hartwell, Lumis, and Candice LeRae.

As previously reported, Ciampa was in town ahead of the show. Pwinsider reports that the former NXT Champion was backstage at Monday’s Raw and is “expected to be returning shortly.”
