Former WWE SmackDown Women’s and Women’s Tag Team Champion Naomi, real name Trinity Fatu, has confirmed through her Instagram Stories that she is in Tokyo, Japan, ahead of Wednesday’s NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17 event from the Tokyo Dome.
Naomi was expected to be in Japan as Mercedes Varnado, formerly known as Sasha Banks, is reportedly set to appear at the Wrestle Kingdom 17 event.
It’s still unclear whether Naomi will appear at the show or if Naomi is just supporting her friend. It’s also unknown what Naomi’s WWE status is after Banks negotiated her WWE release.
Naomi and Banks walked out of WWE last May due to creative differences. If Naomi does appear at Wrestle Kingdom, then that would mean she got her WWE release.
