Former WWE Star Jazz: If I Had to Come Out of Retirement, It Would Be With Charlotte Flair

In an exclusive for WrestlingNews.co, Steve Fall interviewed 2-time WWE Women’s Champion Jazz. Jazz is also a Women’s Wrestling Hall of Famer and a former NWA Women’s Champion. We have a couple of highlights below. Scroll down to the bottom of this page to watch the entire interview.

Jazz talks being the first African American woman to compete on WWE WrestleMania as Champion:

“Honestly, during that time, that wasn’t really on my mind. It was just about being there for the moment and just going out there and just putting on a top notch match. It wasn’t even about me winning or losing. It was about me being a little black girl from Memphis, Tennessee, and Mississippi, and being here on this grandstand stage. So like, the heck with winning or losing, but thank God, yes, I made history that night. I became the first African American woman to go out as champion and still retain my title during WrestleMania.”

Jazz shares her feelings on Trish Stratus:

“She was fun to work with. It was a little bit different with Trish because she never actually went to a wrestling school to learn how to train as a wrestler. So Mondays were pretty much, you know, wrestling school for us. We spent a lot of time together. I have a lot of love and respect for Trish. On Mondays, we would get there and we would be in the ring for three to four hours. It was a lot of work going in with Trish.”

Jazz said she would come out of retirement to wrestle Charlotte Flair:

“I feel like she’s the GOAT for real. I feel that if there’s anyone I would get an opportunity to work with, she would be the one. If I had to come out of retirement, it would be with her. It doesn’t matter who would be face or heel, I think we both could pull it off.”
