Mike Halac has passed away at the age of 55 years old.
Halac is best known for performing as Mantaur in WWE and Bruiser Mastino in ECW.
The news was announced by his daughter, who noted he passed away in his sleep. Eric Simms of ESS Promotions also issued the following statement via Facebook:
While working for Vince McMahon in WWE, he made his entrance while wearing a bullhead to the ring and being managed for a short time by Jim Cornette, where he was used as a heel. He would put over top babyfaces such as Bret Hart.
He broke into the business in 1991 before going to WWE in 1994. He departed from the promotion in 1995. He had a short ECW run that same year before returning for a stint in WWE in 1996 as Goldust’s bodyguard. He worked one dark match for WCW in 1997.
His Mantaur character was portrayed in NBC’s Young Rock series when the show looked back at Dwayne Johnson’s life in the 1990s.
Our thoughts are with Halac’s family.
