Former WWE Wrestler Is Returning To Wrestling

A former WWE wrestler is coming back for more matches after being on hiatus for several months.

That star is Leon Ruffin, also known as Leon Ruff. After finding success in EVOLVE, Leon signed with WWE in 2019. He most notably won the NXT North American Championship when Ruff defeated Johnny Gargano and held it for 25 days.

Ruff lost the title back to Gargano in a triple threat match at NXT TakeOver: WarGames in 2020 before being released in August 2021. Following his WWE run, he did some matches on the independent scene before working the last several of his matches under the ROH/AEW banner.

He made his AEW debut in 2022 against Brian Cage on Dark. He started working ROH TV in March 2023 when he lost to then-Pure Champion Wheeler Yuta. His last match was a ROH World Six Man Tag Team Title bout where he put over The Mogul Embassy at Death before Dishonor last July.

In a post on Twitter, Ruff noted he’s returning to wrestling. He shared the following statement:
