Gable Steveson Will Be Staying Busy in WWE

It looks like Gable Steveson is fully all-in with WWE and will be staying focused on his new career in pro wrestling.

Steveson’s WWE connection

After Steveson signed a multi-year contract with WWE in 2021, WWE had plans for him to be featured on Raw after WrestleMania 38. Triple H has confirmed he pushed to wrestle Stevson at the show before having his medical issues.

The company hopes he can become a top star like Brock Lesnar or Kurt Angle. Those plans were delayed as he underwent a heart procedure.

Although Gable had been looking to return to amateur wrestling and potentially compete in the 2024 Olympics, the University of Minnesota coach Brandon Eggum recently updated Steveson’s status, noting that Steveson won’t be competing for them this season as he shifts his focus to WWE.

The latest

He hasn’t been used on television since last summer, as his only TV match was a no-contest with Baron Corbin at an NXT PLE last year. He has worked a handful of live events in NXT and dark matches at recent SmackDown events.

PWinsider reports Steveson will be at “pretty much every” SmackDown event moving forward, where he will continue to get in-ring experience by working dark matches.
