Gangrel Recalls Accidentally Being Set on Fire During WWE Live Event Entrance

In an exclusive for WrestlingNews.co, Steve Fall spoke with former WWE star Gangrel, also known as the leader of The Brood during the Attitude Era. We have highlights below and be sure to scroll down to watch the interview.

Gangrel on being caught on fire during a WWE Live Event:

“(In 2004) when I came back to tag with Viscera, when JBL and Orlando Jordan, they kind of brung all these people in to take on the Undertaker when he was feuding them. They wanted me to come up through the entrance. We did a rehearsal right before the show was supposed to start.”

He continued, “We did a dry run with the fire, but they made the elevator really small because Rey Mysterio was popping up out of the elevator now. So they did a slow hand crank elevator thing and it was smaller, so they did not anticipate for the backdraft of the flames coming in. So when he lit the flames, the other one was like three foot by four foot or something. It was pretty big lift. It was a big scissor lift so the flames would burn up. This one was so small, the area, the flames sucked down and then they sucked down on me. It burnt all the skin off my arm. I remember going like, ‘Man is is really hot.’ The flames are coming in and I’m like what’s going on? Finally, I did a Rey Mysterio and got really athletic for an old man and jumped up out of the elevator. I was holding all my skin at the end of my wrist. He cleaned it up and put some dressing on it. I threw the white puffy shirt on and went to work. I went home, got home the next day, and saw a specialist and started getting skin grafts and stuff like that.”
