Goldberg’s wrestling future is up in the air after departing from WWE last year.
While appearing on 93.7 The Ticket, Goldberg stated he was leaning towards doing a four-city tour on his own and then would see what’s next regarding a potential run in a major promotion. AEW President Tony Khan has said publicly that he’s keeping an eye on Goldberg.
Goldberg last wrestled when he lost to Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber in 2022. In 2021, he worked three matches – a loss to Drew McIntyre at the Royal Rumble and Bobby Lashley at SummerSlam before beating Bobby Lashley at Crown Jewel.
Two of those bouts came in Saudi Arabia. WWE’s deal with the country sees them get paid big money for holding two shows per year. For the shows, there will be certain requests from the Saudis. That’s why The Undertaker, Goldberg, Triple H, and Shawn Michaels would return, and work matches there.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that AEW might not offer the kind of money per match that the WWE Hall of Famer had been used to getting.
Meltzer wrote, “Goldberg made so much money for so few matches in his WWE deal, reportedly $2 million for each of his Saudi Arabia matches, and for AEW, that kind of money per match simply isn’t cost-effective.”
AEW World Heavyweight Champion MJF isn’t a fan of the idea that Goldberg could become All Elite as he blasted the former WWE star in a now-deleted tweet.
