Goldberg is not happy with WWE and Vince McMahon for not getting to end his career the way he wanted.
WWE tenure
Goldberg last wrestled when he lost to Roman Reigns at WWE Elimination Chamber in 2022 before his contract with the company ended later that year. The WWE Hall of Famer stated earlier this year he was leaning towards doing a four-city tour on his own and then would see what’s next regarding a potential run in a major promotion after that.
Goldberg claimed in a past interview that WWE owes him a retirement match, but they didn’t deliver on the promise.
Goldberg says he is owed a retirement match.
“You never say never, especially in wrestling, and they owe me one,” says Goldberg. “That’s all I can say. I made a deal with the devil and I did my job, and they owe me a retirement match. At the end of the https://t.co/hjiJ6275fb… pic.twitter.com/9k44Pw37FH

The promise
While speaking on Steven & Captain Evil, Goldberg blasted Vince McMahon for not delivering on his retirement match promise.
“Vince is like Dana White. He’s the big boss and he makes everything happen, and in all honesty, he gave me the opportunity to put my wife and son on the front row and gave me the ability to perform again in front of them. So, I owe him everything, until we went to Saudi Arabia and he asked me to put Roman Reigns over, and I had COVID. I remember calling him from my house and said, ‘Listen, here is the deal. I’ll do it if you give me a retirement match.’ I did what he asked. As a performer, I was 56 years old. As a human being, you’re conscientious about how you look in a bathing suit, especially two months prior to being in that bathing suit, you couldn’t work out because you had COVID. I put myself in a horribly shitty situation to get what I wanted to, but to satiate him and give him what he wanted. Problem is, he never held up his bargain. Vince is a piece of shit as far as I’m concerned.”
Goldberg was also asked who made the call for him to beat Hulk Hogan to win his first-ever WCW World Heavyweight Title. He named Hogan because of Hogan’s influence as a drawing card. He said he “fit the bill” for Hogan and said Hogan was “very unselfish.” Goldberg admitted he was never a big wrestling fan growing up but did look up to Sting and credited him for getting him into the business, which is why he tried to be part of Sting’s retirement match at AEW Revolution.
