Clarification On Hangman Page’s Injury Scare On AEW Dynamite

Update: Fightful Select reports Page is not injured and it was part of an angle.

Original: AEW World Champion Samoa Joe, Swerve Strickland & Brian Cage vs. Hangman Page, Hook & Rob Van Dam was booked in the main event of Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite.

During the match, Joe went for his finisher, but Page got out of it and landed badly on his ankle. Page immediately grabbed the ankle and rolled to the outside for the final moments of the match, where he then sat at ringside.

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez noted Page may have a broken ankle. Before the match, Joe vs. Page vs. Strickland was expected to headline AEW Revolution next Sunday.

Alvarez: “He has to have it looked at. Could be a broken ankle.”

Meltzer: “Yeah, that’s what I heard.”

Alvarez: “It does appear to be a serious ankle injury. Sometimes we have people getting injured and we don’t know anything about it, they don’t say anything, but this guy is fighting for the World Title in a little over a week, so if he’s got a broken ankle, I think we’re gonna hear about it real quick.”
