Indication That Warner Bros. Discovery Is Confident About Reaching New TV Deal With AEW

Since launching in 2019, AEW has had the same television partner in the United States in Warner Bros. Discovery. AEW currently airs its programming across TBS and TNT.

As previously reported, AEW and Warner Bros Discovery are in deep negotiations to extend their TV rights deal. AEW’s deal expires at the end of 2024.

WBD pushed for AEW to do more pay-per-view events, which is why AEW held WrestleDream and plans to increase the number of PPVs in 2024 as they get a cut of the buys due to shows airing in the United States on Bleacher Report.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that an indication of WBD’s expectation that they will retain the rights to AEW programming is listing Dynamite on their TBS schedule through the majority of 2025.

Meltzer wrote, “For what this is worth, Andrew Zarian reported that AEW Dynamite is listed on the schedule for TBS through the third quarter of 2025. Now, TV schedules change in the blink of an eye, but that would indicate that WBD is very confident they will be getting a deal when the current one expires at the end of 2024.”
