Injured AEW Star Is Returning to In-Ring Action Soon

It looks like an injured AEW star is nearing a return to the ring that could give the promotion some needed star power in the tag team division.

Santana suffered a left knee injury in the Blood & Guts match last June on Dynamite. The injury happened during a spot with Daniel Garcia just minutes after he entered the double cage. It was a non-contact injury.

Santana previously suffered a stage two tear in his MCL in May 2019 while in Impact Wrestling which kept him out for a few weeks.

Before being sidelined, Konnan confirmed reports of a rift between Santana and Ortiz. The two stars had not worked a normal tag team match together in 2022. Instead, Sanatana had been working as a singles star on the indie scene this year before he was injured.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that Sanatana is on his way back.

Meltzer wrote, “Santana is going to be ready to return soon. Not sure where he’ll fit in since he and Ortiz had a falling out.”

It’s unclear what AEW has planned for them, but hopefully, they can work out their differences as they’re one of the best tag teams in the world.
