Injured WWE star expected to remain out of action for “quite some time”

WWE fans shouldn’t expect to see Robert Roode make his return from injury for a while.

After a long and successful career in TNA Wrestling, Roode signed with WWE in 2016. While with the company, Roode held the NXT Title before going to the main roster, where he became a United States Champion, Raw Tag Team Champion, and SmackDown Tag Team Champion.

Roode hasn’t worked a match since working with Omos last June at a WWE house show. Roode was aligned with Dolph Ziggler before he went away.

Last September, the veteran wrestler indicated on Instagram that he was dealing with injuries. He posted a photo of Southlake Orthopaedics in Birmingham, Alabama.

Roode thanked Southlake and Andrew Sports Medicine and attached a photo to the post that indicated he underwent surgery. It was later revealed that Roode had his C5 and C6 vertebrae fused.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that Roode is “still expected to be out quite some time.”
